Inside the Tusting Factory….

Last week we welcomed one of our favourite bloggers, Amanda Start of Online Stylist, to our factory.  She had approached us keen to know exactly how our bags and luggage are made and we were only too delighted to give her a tour of our factory here. We are very happy showing people around when we can – our visitors tend to become enthralled with the people and processes in our workshop and the intense attention to detail each part of the process is given, it’s a special insight into an otherwise unseen world.

After some company history (we are now fifth generation Tusting at the helm, so we’ve got plenty of that), Gillian Tusting showed Amanda around the workshop where our highly skilled leather workers lovingly piece together each accessory, handbag, briefcase and holdall. Sometimes a personal touch is added with the embossing of initials, but even without, the attention to detail ensures that every item feels uniquely special to each one of our customers. Amanda snapped away with her camera and asked a whole host of questions as she explored the Tusting process.

If you are intersted to see around the factory yourself, make a date in your diary for the 31st of August – we will be repeating last year’s very successful Open Day on the August Bank Holiday Monday, when you can take a tour of the factory (yes, we’ll all be working!), enjoy 10% off all purchases in the showroom, maybe grab a bargain from the sale table, and finally enjoy some amazing cake with a tea of coffee care of our fabulous local WI ladies. Finally, on the way back to Bedford station, there was time for a quick lunch in one of our local country pubs!
