A Special Gift for the Founder of Walk The Walk
We were recently delighted to work on a project for the founder and CEO of the charity Walk The Walk, Nina Barough CBE, along with local company De Boer of Brackley.
Even if you don’t recognise the name straight away, you’ll probably be familiar with the stellar work carried out by Walk The Walk. It’s the grant making charity behind the formidable Moonwalk events, and has raised over £111 million much of which has been granted towards vital research into breast cancer, and to help those with cancer now.
To celebrate this milestone 20th birthday, local company and supplier to Walk The Walk De Boer wanted to create something special to present to Nina Barough.
De Boer is a market leader in the rental of temporary accommodation for professional events, and each year they supply the Moonwalk’s ‘Pink Galaxy’, the tent used for pre-event warming up and post-event parties.
The size of two football pitches, this iconic circus tent was created especially for Moonwalk in 2006 and has become as synonymous with the event as the trademark decorated bras of the Moonwalkers’.
De Boer approached TUSTING to enquire about creating a one-of-a-kind bag for Nina using the PVC covering of the Pink Galaxy, and it was decided the Erica backpack would be the perfect design for this occasion.
Not one to shy away from a challenge, the team here at TUSTING agreed and started testing the PVC, a fabric we hadn’t worked with before. After a bit of experimentation with the binding, handles and drawstring, the Pink Galaxy Erica was born.
The Erica was presented to Nina Barough by MD of De Boer, Peter Spruce, at the De Boer hospitality suite at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show along with a donation of £10,000.
Said Peter of the gift, “We are immensely proud of our long association with MoonWalk and Walk the Walk supporting the charity’s legendary fundraising efforts to support breast cancer causes. We hope this small memento will bring happy memories for Nina for years to come.”
