WHO IS DAVID EVANS?

Cult Menswear Style blog ‘ Grey Fox ’ has taken the men’s fashion world by storm, inspiring men of all ages to dress smart, feel comfortable and look their best – but also putting the message out there about the importance of British manufacturing and supporting our homegrown talent. Here at Tusting, we have certainly been inspired by the topics and brands that David researches and we were honoured to welcome him to our own factory around this time last year – https://www.tusting.co.uknews/grey-fox-factory-visit/. Recently we asked David a few key questions to get to know little more about him…

SUMMARISE WHAT LUXURY MEANS TO YOU?

I apply the word to anything which brings with it the pride in ownership that comes from outstanding design and craftsmanship, whether it’s a car, suit or piece of luggage.

WHAT FIVE ITEMS COULD YOU NOT LIVE WITHOUT?

My English-made brogues, bespoke tweed suit, Swiss Army knife, laptop and 1968 Omega Speedmaster Professional watch (as worn on the Moon!)

WHY IS ‘MADE IN BRITAIN’ IMPORTANT TO YOU?

If we buy goods made in Britain we provide jobs, not just in manufacturing, but in other sectors too. We also preserve a heritage and skills that, in many cases, go back centuries. Tusting is a prime example of this; you will see traditional leather working skills in their factory alongside very modern manufacturing techniques. Above all, it’s about people. In manufacturing we give people the chance to work in fulfilling jobs where they learn skills and make things – such rewarding jobs are harder to find in service industries.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE TUSTING BAG, AND WHY?

I love my Explorer holdall and Porter satchel, but I particularly like the Gladstone Tourer holdall which so perfectly fuses modern design with a very traditional shape in beautiful leather – a lovely bag.

DESCRIBE YOUR PERFECT WEEKEND?

I can’t decide between a weekend in the English Lake District with my family and lovely rescue Labrador, Harry, with a meal in the local pub and home to a real fire – or a weekend in London, a bit of shopping and a visit to the Tate Modern with lunch in their riverside restaurant with its stunning views over the city followed by an evening at the theatre.

4 x 4 OR 2-SEATER?

4×4 – for weekends with family and dog in the country.
