When it comes to using "not a plastic bag" there is a plethora of cotton and canvas totes around, but we have gone a step further down the durability route. Our lovely, lightweight EcoShopper is made entirely from natural, sustainable materials and will make reusing your bag a pleasure!
As hides are always a by-product of meat production, in making leather from them we start off by recycling a waste product. The leather in this bag is "veg tanned" which means it is preserved in a way employed for centuries using various types of vegetation, particularly tree barks and leaves. Unlike modern tanning methods, this system uses no chrome or other metals and is therefore kinder to the environment.
Further, in this bag we have used no metal parts and have only added webbing to form the wrap-around handles. As a result, the whole bag is biodegradable so that when you eventually do wear it out, it will not insult the environment in its disposal either!
Please note that veg-tanned leather is by its nature more porous than highly finished leathers. It will absorb moisture and oils that it comes into contact with, though these will not usually harm it. Rather, they will contribute to the ageing and characterisation of the leather, forming a rich patina over time, making your bag uniquely yours.

- irregularities in the grain of this leather are to be expected - each bag is thus unique
- the interior of the bag is buffed suede and occasionally coloured dust can displace onto very pale fabrics if they come into contact with the suede
